The town grew up around the old mill on the river, and although the mill closed in 1998, the street plan never changed: Bridge Street still runs from the school at one end to the co-op and the café at the other. This town is made up of families who have been here for generations, a smaller group who moved out from the city for cheaper housing, and the people who keep the place running — teachers, nurses, mechanics, café staff, the two people who run the hardware store.
